IHAP trains facility staff, connects inmates to their coverage and insurance guidance before and after release, and is building the profile and wallet that follows every person home.
The Inmate Health Access Program (IHAP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating inside correctional facilities across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. We connect justice-involved individuals to their healthcare coverage, insurance guidance, and the full ecosystem of resources they need — before they leave custody and after they walk out.
IHAP works at three levels: training the coordinators and resource officers inside facilities so they can effectively get inmates signed up and prepared; connecting every person to their coverage and insurance information through the transition; and building an inmate-owned profile and wallet — a personal digital hub that connects each individual to every resource they need to succeed on the outside. Every year, 7 million Americans cycle through the justice system. Your gift helps make sure they don't cycle back.
IHAP is embedded inside correctional facilities — working with facility staff, inmates, and outside resources so every person has what they need before the gate opens.
"When someone walks out of a facility with no ID, no insurance, and no doctor — they come back. We break that cycle."

IHAP is grateful to the advisors and professionals who helped bring this work to life. Julio Gonzalez and Engineered Tax Services provided critical guidance in structuring IHAP as a 501(c)(3) and continue to support our mission through grant strategy and advisory.
